The “Pakistan Haier-Ruba Economic Zone” is China’s first overseas economic and trade cooperation zone approved by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, and it is also a Pakistan-China Special Economic Zone approved by the Pakistani government. On November 26, 2006, then-Chinese President Hu Jintao, who was on an official visit to Lahore, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz launched the Pakistan-China Overseas Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone and the Pakistan Haier-Ruba Economic Zone.
