Summary

Founded in 1954, the Hong Kong Chinese Importers’ and Exporters’ Association (HKCIEA) brings together business leaders from across the import and export sector. It is widely recognized as one of Hong Kong’s major chambers of commerce.
The import and export trade is a cornerstone of Hong Kong’s economy, accounting for about 16% of GDP and providing employment for over 400,000 people. As the most representative chamber in the import and export functional constituency, HKCIEA bears the statutory responsibility of electing a Legislative Council member and 17 members of the Election Committee for this constituency.
Since its establishment, HKCIEA has acted as a vital bridge between the Government and the business community. It has steadfastly safeguarded the rights and interests of its members, facilitating communication with trade partners worldwide, and gradually evolved into a platform where members can exchange their views, increase their understanding of business intelligence and policies, and contribute to societal development. For decades, HKCIEA has promoted its members’ participation in national development and their own business advancement through diverse channels, thereby strengthening liaison among members and reinforcing Hong Kong’s role as an international trading hub.
Since Hong Kong’s return to the Motherland, HKCIEA has fully supported the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government in governing according to the law, while actively disseminating positive energy to society. HKCIEA strives to give back to the community by organizing economic forums, seminars, and youth activities, as well as providing assistance to the elderly and unemployed.
